Let Us Be
Let us savor the joy of the unknown
Let us toss aside those anxious anachronisms
That do nothing but affirm our own trepidations
Let us soak in the warmth of the right now
And simply be lost in the moment of each other
Let us seek to find our most fragile, flawed selves
That delicate yearning that can only bloom
Under an expansive sky’s radiant shine
Full of the Present’s possibility
Let us just be
And never worry about what might come
Let us never trade a moment we get to have
For the terror of a tomorrow that isn’t guaranteed to arrive
Let us hold fast together
Against our own terrible tantrums
Arms locked in defiance
Of the World’s banal bombardment
Let us stay true to you and I
The one thing we can build or break
By doing the only thing we can do
Letting ourselves…
Just
Be

I read it twice to myself then listened to the reader twice. My wife and I are not at the beginning of love...we are about 25 years into it but being two women, we still have to fight every day for our love. So many do not want us to have it. We have been shunned, terrorized and hated for loving one another. We will continue to keep arms locked and be oh so grateful for every day of living our true love together ❤️
Thank you for this beautiful poem Frederic. And I loved Heather's comment. There is a real need for love in this world. Why would we begrudge any of it.
