I'm not a writer. I am a Canadian waiting for the weight to descend, and it affects me to watch and to over watch. I might as well be doom scrolling. Chaos is a method that is being specifically chosen for use by those who have planned for this for decades. This isn't off the cuff. What it means is that Democrats and anyone who wants true freedom, freedom with humanity and well-being involved needs to move a lot faster. It kind of shows how many people will let the status quo coast without forethought about the what if's. What if we do nothing about climate change, what if we let these people push through an agenda that we don't agree with. Canadians know that many/most of you don't agree with what's going on. My thoughts are with you. We are in this together. We share humanity.
You lost your Prime Minister and I've heard rumblings that folks are scared up there too. That someone who is kissing the insane orange man's ring might get elected in October.
Trusting is difficult and we may have to change the way we communicate especially after ( we’ll still dealing with) Covid that isolated us to one degree or another.
It may get darker before it get Lighter so fortifying yourself against the fog and emotions.
Slow can be fast.😊

Dude, I don't even know how to say thank you for this. I have been unable to put a word to paper all week, and it makes me feel like I'm not doing the ONE thing I'm good at, that might help people somehow. But I'm completely overwhelmed. Your compassion is palpable, both as a human and a fellow creative. I love this community.

Thank you for this post today, it does help. I embrace democracy and consider myself fortunate to live in this one even now. There is one word that I would add to what we are experiencing and that is cruelty. Most of us will be hurt by some of the current administration's actions and maybe that will help us find common ground. But cruelty is an integral part of the administration's strategy -- it is so hurtful and needs to be called out. Case in point: as reported on CNBC 2/18/2025 "White House posts video of immigrants in shackles, calls deportation footage ‘ASMR'" The suggestion is that the video gives pleasure! Surely this appeals to only a minority of people. Nonetheless, subsequently, a very young girl took her own life because she was bullied about her family's immigration status. Just writing about this upsets me and, no, it is not okay.
I’m here just to remind all fellow travelers we are experiencing the “Contagion” as Bandi Lee, Harvard psychologist has defined Trump. If we don’t put a stop to it..it spreads like cancer..we are there. We must set our values and ethics above this MAGA nonsense, we must put Democracy above the Russian propaganda within our country and abroad. Remember folks the Russians have been working on this American project for many, many years and as a result we have a Russian asset in the WH.
Frederic - I enjoy your writing and perspective very much. There are days I’m so freaked out that breathing is hard. It is going to get worse before it gets better and my tidy plans for fun in retirement are up in smoke. But we the people are waking up to so much of what is rotten in our greed and consumer based culture. Let us use our imaginations to change what has been exposed. It’s going to be a bitch of a fight but I’m gathering the strength to not back down.
