Thanks, Frederic. I called my rethug congressman this morning (I call every day) to ask him to work to reinstate funding for NOAA and other weather-related services. I emailed my rethug senator with the same message. Our congressman has been in the news quite a bit lately for posting a jubilant "Yes!" in response to all the people losing Medicaid and SNAP.

The Big Bullshit Bill is what that thing is. Goes along with everything else this regime does, which doesn't give one shit about anybody. I hope a hurricane blows through Mar-a-Lago and wipes his place out. See what he does about that!

This regime is incompetent and not an administration that administers anything. They don't know how to govern. Again, this isn't a government; it's a regime. Fuck Mango Mussolini. He's a virus in and of himself. His goons are nothing but flunkies who don't know what they're doing.

Trump and friends DON’T CARE! On top of that, they do this right when we reach a tipping point with climate change

You are correct that the Bill has caused and will continue to wreak havoc on everyone in the US. It is horrific and i do not understand why anyone would have voted to approve this destruction!!

My daughter-in-law lived in San Antonio, and her son attended the camps in that area. And she was a teacher in San Antonio. Lots of her students went to that camp. So of course she’s very familiar with it. Her heart is aching this morning. Even though they are not quite Trumper, they are very conservative but as I told her, love connects us all.

My daughter attended that camp years ago. We lived in boerne and had two 100 year Rains within an 8 year timeframe. This is insane. My heart bleeds today.

But but but there’s so much money involved in managing that kind of risk. How can we do that? It just can’t be done.! 😏

Thank you for that in-depth take on the horrible tragedy. 29 feet of water gulping down an encampment is unbelievable, but Nature is known to have many surprises in store for us.

I have always had a healthy sense of self-preservation when Nature turns mean, and weather reports have always been integral to that wariness. When I was a kid decades ago, weather reports for a day ahead wrre worthy of skepticism. Today, the 7-day forecast is not based on some blindfolded intern throwing darts at a target on the wall. The NWS and NOAA have earned my trust.

The current regime at the helm has earned my condemnation.

MAGATs are afraid of hard data, of facts that may not fit the particular narratives that they want to push. Hence, they strive to discredit the very concepts of objectivity and expertise. Everything must be subsumed under the meta-narrative that Dear Leader is always right and knows best. Daddy knows best.
